Target — Where is your aim?

All GUI design ought to begin with the User Experience. Far too many projects are really more about the developer rather than the user. This is because the developer asks questions about what awesome functionality can be exposed and what amazing things can be done by the code, rather than what the user needs and wants to accomplish. This often leads to confusing and disorganized User Interfaces.


The Prime Directive

Nothing within these articles of Graphical User Interface Design shall authorize designers to interfere with the user’s intent to accomplish a specific task.  NG

In other words: Stop thinking so much about the cool things you can do; concentrate instead on what your user wants to accomplish. Your Number One job is to design fabulous ways to “make it so.”
